Organic Carbonisation System (OCS)

Our combustion-free, zero-emissions Accelerated Carbonisation Technology (ACT) turns organic waste such as food and garden waste, medical waste and car tyres, and most common household waste items - that would otherwise become landfill - into high purity biochar that has a number of industrial applications including;

  • CO2 sequestration/Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS)

  • Soil rejuvenation/biochar

  • Light industrial applications such as graphite (pencil tips)

  • Cement and brick manufacturing

  • Dry cells

  • Electrodes and as lubricant

  • Heavy industrial applications such smelt, (iron and steel industry)

This is done through HBC's Organic Carbonisation System (OCS), by exposing waste to high pressure (10 bar) and a combustion-free temperature (450°C) inside a rector in a revolutionary process we call “Carbonisation”, producing the byproduct OCS-Char (carbon pellets).

The ACT process is achieved without combustion, thereby avoiding the release of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases.

The greenhouse gases and other toxic chemicals that would otherwise escape into the environment as the garbage breaks down over decades and centuries are instead bonded within the carbonised byproduct.
